Connetik Web Hosting, Acceptable Use and Abuse Prevention Policy

Connetik Interactive (“Connetik”, “us”, “we”, or “our”) offers hosting solutions. This page informs you of our policies regarding the use of this service.

1. General

By using any of our services, customers agree to only use Connetik’s services for lawful purposes. Failure to comply may result in account suspension or termination without prior notice. Connetik will remain the sole arbiter in what constitutes a breach of our policies. We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or suspend service at our sole discretion.

Customers are responsible for keeping their billing data up-to-date and accurate. 

2. Billing

Your billing period starts on the 1st of each month. All payments are due prior to the beginning of the service period before service is rendered. 

3. Cancellation

Cancellation requests must be made a month in advance. If you require a copy of your files please ensure that you have a backup before your hosting expires. If you need assistance in obtaining a backup, this must be requested before the account is terminated.

4. Abuse Prevention

We are committed to preventing and addressing abusive activities on our servers. This includes any activity that disrupts the normal operation of our services, but is not limited to:

  • Spamming
  • Phishing
  • Malware distribution
  • Denial-of-service attacks
  • Copyright infringement
  • Child pornography
  • Hate speech
  • Illegal activities

If a Customer is found to be in violation of this policy, we may take a variety of actions, including:

  • Issuing a warning
  • Suspending or terminating the customer’s account
  • Reporting the abuse to relevant authorities
  • Taking legal action

We cannot guarantee that our network or services will be completely free from abuse. However, we take reasonable steps to prevent and address abuse.

2. Prohibited Activities

You may not use any of Connetik’s services for illegal purposes. You agree to comply with any applicable local, provincial, federal and international laws, government rules or requirements. You agree you will not be entitled to a refund of any fees paid to Connetik if, for any reason, Connetik takes corrective action with respect to your improper or illegal use of its services.

Connetik reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as Connetik deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in Connetik’s sole discretion. 

Example activities that are prohibited include, but are not limited to: terrorism; threatening harm to persons or property; compromising the security (or tampering with) system resources or any other Internet/intranet sites; violating local export control Laws for Software or technical information; the use or transmission or distribution of any data or material protected by Intellectual Property Right without proper authorization; the manufacture or use or distribution of counterfeit, pirated or illegal software or other product; fraudulently representing products or services; spamming, hacking, DoS attacks, DDoS attacks, DRDoS attacks; defamation, child pornography, child erotica and obscenity; activities that may result in the placement or inclusion on a Blacklist; and facilitating, aiding, or encouraging any of the foregoing activities.

3. Sending of Mass Unsolicited Email

Connetik has a zero-tolerance policy for sending of mass unsolicited email. It is forbidden to send unsolicited mail from or to our servers under any circumstance. 

4. Email Use

Customers may not send email that in any way is or may be in breach of applicable Law, nor send or propagate mass unsolicited email. Customer must follow Canada’s anti-spam legislation: https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/canada-anti-spam-legislation/en

Customer shall refrain from any email activities that may result in the placement of Customer or Customer’s IP address on a Blacklist. Unsolicited advertising emails, whether commercial or informational, are strictly prohibited. 

5. Backups

Connetik performs routine backups on all servers. Due to the resource-intensive nature of the backup process, Connetik is not responsible for lost data, time, income or any other resource due to faulty or non-existent backups.

6. Resource Usage

Connetik server resources cannot be used for any other purpose than to serve data from websites. In order to guarantee reliable service, Customers may not use more hosting resources than what would be required by a regular web site in the course of its regular activities. Accounts found to be exceeding the allowed resource usage may be suspended in order to prevent serious service degradation, and Connetik will attempt to notify the client whenever possible and work with them to resolve any resource usage problem.

7. Allowed Software and Scripts

Connetik reserves the right to suspend accounts with vulnerabilities, viruses, or malware. Additional vigilance must be used to ensure the software (e.g., WordPress, themes and plugins) is safe and up-to-date.

8. Adult Content

Explicit or pornographic content is strictly forbidden.

9. Responsibility

The customer is responsible for all activity originating from their hosting account unless proven to be a victim of outside hacking or forgery. Customer is responsible for securing their username/password.

12. Changes to Policies

Connetik reserves the right to add, delete, or modify any provision of this Policy at any time without notice.
