While it’s shown up in books and popular culture a handful times over the last few decades, it’s most recently and arguably most popular iteration was made popular by former Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Sam Hinkie. Hinkie preached that by following the process, the desired outcome would present itself. We also love processes, but know that a process on its own without some flexibility can fail, which is what happened to Mr. Hinkie.
Where Hinkie went wrong was not altering his process. He believed so strongly in it, that he wasn’t willing to consider changes to improve it.
